Anti-lock Braking System is a braking system used in vehicles to prevent them from skidding & drifting to avoid accidents and loss of life. It prevents from locking of wheel while applying the brake.

It consists of Electronic Control Unit (ECU) having sensors for monitoring speed of wheels & hydraulic valves on each brake. Electronic control unit monitors the speed of each wheels. If the speed of wheel is lesser than the other wheel it actuates the valves to decrease hydraulic brake pressure & if the speed is higher than the other wheel, it actuates the valves to increase the hydraulic brake pressure. This prevents from wheels locking and skidding.

Unless you are a skilled drifter, it is very much mandatary to have ABS in your vehicle so as to avoid potentially dangerous situation.
