Nitrogen is utilized to counteract porosity in the welding by keeping air & oxygen from entering the liquid metal amid the welding procedure. Different gases are used for this reason, for example, Carbon Dioxide, Helium, Argon, and the gases radiate when the motion consumes with smoldering heat amid SMAW (stick) welding.
