Ping is a network utility used to determine whether a particular IP address is accessible. That is, it can be used to check whether we can connect from our host to a specific IP address.

Ping (Packet InterNet Groper) is widely used to troubleshoot Internet connections. It also measures the total time from transmission to reception, including the errors in between and the packet loss occurred. Ping works by sending an ICMP packet to target host and receives a reply from the host.
