Older and Slower: Cat 5

Cat 5 stands for Category 5, is a cabling system and categorization. These cables work under 10MBps to 100MBps model. It’s a conventional type of cabling, used with old switching and networking devices/ routers.

Low Interference and faster: Cat 5e

Supports 1000MBps speed theoretically, and is faster than Cat5. This cable is capable enough to mow down the interference. This cabling system is very efficient in removing channel interference and provides more reliability over Cat5 Cables

Superlative than Cat5 and Cat5e but not exceptional.
Next development to Cat 5e is Cat 6 Cables, More improved specification when the channel interference is concerned, capable to provide up to 10GBps.
